Legends of Kildare, Reviving Irish Legends

A Unique Visitor Experience

Emagine, has developed "Legends of Kildare," a unique, immersive Virtual Reality (VR) film experience commissioned by Kildare Heritage Centre. Our ground-breaking project, brought to life by innovative technology and in-depth historical research, showcases the rich tapestry of Kildare's myth and history.

Our VR project explores the tales of famous Irish figures such as Brigid, the dual figure of pagan goddess and Christian saint; Fionn mac Cumhaill, the fearless leader of Ireland’s ancient warrior class; and Strongbow, the Anglo-Norman Lord. All these characters are intrinsically linked to Kildare, a town steeped in religious and tactical significance throughout the middle ages.

Our primary vision for "Legends of Kildare" was to create an immersive experience that leaves a lasting impression. We aimed to transport visitors back in time from the moment they enter the interpretive space, setting the scene for an unforgettable journey. To achieve this, we employed living history re-enactors to welcome visitors, manage visitor flow, and prepare them for the VR experience.

Multilingual Accessibility

Understanding the importance of inclusivity, we have ensured that the VR experience is available in five languages: English, Irish, French, German, and Mandarin. Our team meticulously managed script translations via a third party and cast voice actors proficient in each language. The performances were further fine-tuned with the assistance of language monitors to ensure accuracy and authenticity.

Aesthetic Transformation of Kildare Heritage Centre

Not only did we focus on the VR aspect, but our team also redesigned the existing interpretation at Kildare Heritage Centre. Our plan resulted in a new fit-out for the reception area and VR experience area. We successfully project-managed the production and installation of exhibition elements, delivering the entire project within budget and in a challenging timeframe.

The Outcome: Immersion in Irish History and Mythology

The final product, "Legends of Kildare Virtual Reality Experience," offers a unique opportunity to step into the shoes of legendary figures from Irish history and mythology. Visitors are invited on a journey through time, becoming active participants in the unfolding narrative.
