Monaco Oceanographic: A Shared Dive into the Depths of the Mediterranean

In partnership with the Monaco Oceanographic Museum, Emagine developed *ImmerSEAve VR*, a groundbreaking virtual reality experience that redefines how audiences connect with the marine world. This 12-minute shared adventure immerses up to eight participants in a single room, taking them beneath the waves off the coast of Monaco. With portable VR headsets, participants explore shipwrecks, swim alongside sea turtles and giant rays, and interact with each other in real-time, creating a deeply personal yet collective journey into the ocean’s depths.

What sets ImmerSEAve VR apart is its innovative shared-space technology. Participants not only experience the underwater environment together but also see and interact with each other in the virtual and physical space. This unprecedented level of interaction fosters a sense of connection and collaboration, transforming the experience into a shared adventure.  

Driving this unique functionality is Emagine’s custom in-house server app, a cutting-edge solution that synchronizes all headsets without the need for bulky computers or additional hardware. This innovation enables seamless portability and unparalleled simplicity, making the setup as lightweight as it is transformative.

To ensure the experience resonates with a diverse audience, ImmerSEAve VR is available in multiple languages, including French, Greek, and English. This multilingual approach broadens its reach, inviting participants from across the Mediterranean and beyond to dive into the underwater world.  

In addition to the in-room experience, Emagine developed a sit-down version of ImmerSEAve VR, extending its impact far beyond the museum’s walls. Designed to fulfill the Monaco Oceanographic Museum’s educational mission, this portable version is tailored for schools and classrooms, bringing the wonders of the ocean to students across the Mediterranean. By combining accessibility with immersive storytelling, this initiative ensures marine education reaches a new generation of ocean advocates.
